Closure of On-Campus Classes Extended to at Least April 14

Due to increasing restrictions of social interactions by governmental authorities, Berean Academy will not hold on-campus classes until at least Tuesday, April 14. Monday, April 13, is a scheduled professional development day for teachers and follows Easter Sunday. Today, Governor Bill Lee asked Tennessee’s public schools to close until April 24, but at this point, I do not see the need to project that far concerning keeping all of our students and staff off campus.

Berean Academy teachers are finalizing distance learning plans for K-12 students and will implement them starting Tuesday, March 31. Information concerning distance learning will be shared prior to the start date.

We have been communicating with state officials concerning our childcare program. On Friday, the governor encouraged childcare providers to offer their services, so parents who need to work outside their homes could do so. In response to that request, childcare has been open this week to preschool students only. The state has issued specific health-related procedures during this time, and we are following them.

Decisions concerning childcare services while classes are not on campus will be communicated to parents, as soon as possible. Beginning in April, preschool students who do not take advantage of available childcare services during the distance-learning timeframe will not be charged tuition. Applicable adjustments will be made through our tuition management system (FACTS).
