Enrichment

We are approaching summer reading for middle school and high school students differently this summer. These students will not be required to complete a summer reading project, but they are benefits for doing so, namely academic enrichment.

Students who complete the recommended summer reading components will receive a score for their work. This score will count as a test grade, so students will have the opportunity to start the fall semester with a high grade. Students may choose to decline the opportunity to count their work as a test grade, if their score does not meet their personal expectations.

Those completing the summer reading program will also receive vouchers for five dress-down days to be used on designated days.

While the summer reading program is optional, it is a requirement for high school students who intend to take an honors track in English in the fall. English teachers will communicate details concerning their honors tracks at the beginning of the new school year.

Details concerning the recommended summer reading program are posted on our homepage. To locate the information, scroll down the page and click on the “Summer Reading Program” tab. This will give you access to linked PDFs of the programs.
