TACS Competition was filled with excitement, incredible talent, studious test takers, and many new challenges this year!  Due to Covid and the restrictions it involves, we knew from the very beginning competition would look very different.  While waiting for the final decisions on plans, our students at Berean Academy were already working hard studying, memorizing, reciting, practicing, creating and rehearsing for all the events involved.

Jennifer Chambers had this to say about the students she led in the upper level music competition, “Fine Arts Competition on both the district and state levels were beyond exciting this year. We were able to work hard toward a goal, then see fruit for our labor, as each group placed and exceeded my expectations. Not having state-level competition left us disappointed last year, but we made up for it, and I know we will continue to see great results next year.”

The first section of the competition involved several subjects for academic testing for elementary all the way through high school.  Our students here at Berean studied hard, focused and recalled all they needed to acheive great scores amongst their peers on the district and state levels.

Another group of competition was in our Fine Arts Category.

Our students used multiple modes of creating some incredible art pieces.  They used photography, sculpting, crafts, drawing, and painting. We have students that gave it their all and used the creative edge that God has given them to pull out some beautiful entries.  We are so thankful for our art teachers here at Berean, who teach in our students to use their creativity and gifts to glorify God, while always pointing them to the very first Creator, God himself!

Carrie Marks and Jennifer Chambers worked very hard with both our elementary and middle school students in the area of singing and music.  Mrs. Marks said, “I love seeing the students enjoy learning something new as a group.  I believe that the music they learn grows in their hearts over the period of time that we practice.  By the time they perform, the students are able to sing to the glory of God confidently representing Berean Academy.  It is a joy to spend this time with them and see them accomplish a set goal.”  We are so thankful for the love and commitment our teachers have to guide our students to love and glorify God with their talents.  These students worked hard and their efforts really paid off.

The last category of competition in fine arts was in the area of drama and speech.  These students put so much time into rehearsing, memorizing, choreographing, and perfecting each performance.  Kristy Walker had this to say about her students, “Despite many challenges while preparing for competition this year, the speech students were well prepared, showed confidence, and represented Berean well with outstanding performances. I was proud of each competitor and the teamwork shown by the speech groups.”
