Elementary Summer Enrichment

We have some new approaches to summer academic enrichment for our elementary students. First, we are promoting a recommended summer reading program for rising 1st – 5th graders. This program is not required, but we encourage children to participate to reinforce their language arts skills and to counter the common academic “summer slump.” The program is now optional, so parents and children can work together to use it or other approaches in ways that best fit needs, preferences, and schedules.

Go to our homepage and scroll down to the “Summer Reading Information” tab for details about the recommended summer reading program for elementary students. Be sure to notice the rewards students will receive for completing the program.

Another new offering for summer academic enrichment for elementary students is the “Principals’ Summer Challenge.” This optional program is designed to challenge rising 1st-5th graders in the following subject areas: math, reading, and science. Those accepting this challenge will have to work diligently this summer, because it is demanding.

The deadline to submit the online registration form for the Principal’s Summer Challenge is May 29.

Information concerning recommended summer reading for our secondary students will be shared soon.
